Video: Boogying Down with the North Mississippi Allstars

Video clip: The North Mississippi Allstars bring down the house with one of the most danceable songs I know, “Shake ‘Em On Down.” For those of you who missed this concert at the Melody Ballroom a few weeks ago, I feel for you. IMG_7782.JPG IMG_7766.JPG
The North Mississippi Allstars, recently rejoined by vocalist/slide guitarist Luther Dickinson (after finishing up a final tour with the Black Crowes; see my December 30 post, "Do the Black Crowes Needtobreathe?" (link) let loose their unique blend of blues/gospel/roots/hip hop/boogie-rock onto their fans for over three hours. We were all waiting for the dance floor to collapse as the band jammed on into the night.

Click above for this video clip: Prior to launching into his signature washboard solo(!), drummer Cody Dickinson took center stage to jam on the guitar with his brother Luther and bassist Chris Chew.

We knew the N.M. Allstars weren’t messing around when they were just starting their final encore just before 12:30 a.m. Getting our money’s worth for the tickets? Check.
